Sneak peek of upcoming Epworth Cup Grand Finals

This Sunday at Drew Oval, Herne Hill Reserve, the Grand Finals for all three divisions of the 2023 Senior Women’s Epworth Cup take place.

This is a preview of the grand finals and what to expect.

GEELONG WEST vs THOMSON

At 10:50am, Geelong West and Thomson battle it out for the Division 2 premiership.

Geelong West goes into this match as favourites having finished the regular season on top of the ladder as well as securing their Grand Final spot comfortably with a 44-point victory over Anglesea in the qualifier two weeks ago.

Thomson appear to be a dark horse for the flag, following their elimination final win against South Barwon and their thrilling one-goal victory against Anglesea last weekend.

This promises to be an intriguing battle to kick off the football action on Sunday.

Last time they met: Round 11, 2023 (Geelong West 7.6.48 def Thomson 3.7.25)

NORTH GEELONG vs MODEWARRE

Following Geelong West and Thomson is the Division 3 Grand Final between North Geelong and Modewarre to be played at 1:10pm.

North Geelong appears to be the stronger of the two outfits, also finishing the regular season as minor premiers along with securing a Grand Final berth two weeks ago with a win over Drysdale.

Modewarre also seems to be a worthy contender for the flag after a win in a sudden-death final against Barwon Heads and an upset against Drysdale in the preliminary final, overcoming the Hawks by 13 points.

This is also shaping up to be an interesting Grand Final.

Last time they met: Round 11, 2023 (Modewarre 7.5.47 def North Geelong 2.3.15)

GEELONG AMATEURS vs GROVEDALE

And lastly, Geelong Amateurs and Grovedale will face off for the Division 1 flag at 3:30pm.

Both Geelong Amateurs and the Tigers finished the home-and-away season in first and second spot respectively and met in the qualifying final two weeks ago. In an enthralling contest, Geelong Amateurs eked home by two points to secure their place in the season decider.

Grovedale were able to ensure their shot at avenging their loss in the qualifier after a dominant win in the preliminary final over Barwon Heads last Sunday.

All things considered; the marquee Grand Final of the day could be the best of the trio.

Last time they met: Qualifying Final, 2023 (Geelong Amateurs 1.9.15 def Grovedale 2.1.13)
