    Sunday 25th August - First Semi Final: Loser of Qualifying Final V Winner of Elimination Final

  • Team Officials

    Team Officials consist of Coach, Assistant Coach, Team Manager and Primary Carer. You will also include a scorer. Up to 5 officials may constitute the team officials (i.e. additional medical professional).

    Team officials MUST be named on the starting line-up form that must be submitted at least 30 minutes prior to the start of each match.

    Only the listed Team Officials are allowed on the bench with the five substitutions.

  • Scoring & Timekeeping (PLEASE READ CAREFULLY NOTING 2024 CHANGES)

    An independent scorer will be allocated to every final by AFL Barwon in addition to club scorers.

    Independent Scorer will be the official scorer – clubs will be asked to provide scorers for nominated games on the Monday of each week.

    - The Independent Scorer will be responsible for the scoresheet – goals and attempts tracking, centre pass tracking etc.

    a. Participating Clubs will need to provide a check scorer/timer for each game.

      • The home team will provide the scoreboard operator, the away team will provide a timekeeper.
      • The Home Team will look after home team position tracking, and the away team will look after away team position tracking.

    b. LIVE SCORES will be available for all A Grade Finals.

    c. All clubs will be asked to nominate scorers to be allocated

  • Starting Line-Up & Team Substitution Information

    The starting line-up and team changes information packs will be available to each team on the day and must be collected from the administration office.

    Please ensure your team manager or coach fills out the starting line-up with substitutions and team officials and returns the form to the office no later than 30 minutes before the match.

    The team substitution form also needs to be filled out for each substitution made during the match and at quarter breaks (including injury substitutions).

  • Game Times

  • Online Team Selection

    Selected teams for ALL junior and senior grades are to be entered online by 12:00pm each WEDNESDAY.

    For Grand Final week – teams should be selected on PlayHQ by COB Tuesday.

    Any changes to team lists on game day will need to be signed off by an AFL Barwon official.

  • Presentations

    Presentations will be completed after each Grand Final game.

    Medals and Cups will be awarded to the winning side ONLY. Please ask your teams to move quickly to the presentation area.

    17&U Division 2 Presentations will take place after the commencement of E Grade.

  • Umpires

    Supplied by AFL Barwon.

  • Netballs

    Netballs will be supplied by AFL Barwon for all four weeks of finals.

  • First Aid

    Clubs will be responsible for their own first aid, taping, etc. during finals as per a normal match day.

    A first aid provider will be in attendance on Grand Final Day.

    Ice will be available from the office.

  • Finals Qualification Rules

    4.11 Players who play 6 games in a lower senior grade automatically qualify for any senior grade higher. (Player must still adhere to all other applicable competitions that restrict player movement.

    6.1 Players must take the court in at least 6 games to be eligible to participate in that division’s finals series. If the minimum number of games is not played, the player is ineligible to play finals.

    6.2 Once a player takes the court in the 9th game, they are ineligible to play in a lower grade/division in the same age group.

    6.3 A player can only play in one senior game over one weekend of finals.

    6.4 Any junior is eligible to play in two finals over one weekend (one junior and one senior, or two junior not in the same age group)

    Penalty for breaching any part of rule 5: Score line will be recorded as 10 – Nil in favour of the non-offending team or match result, whichever is the better outcome for the non-offending team. Fine is $100 for the offending club.

    4.10 In The GFNL, 19/U players only, are allowed to play C Grade, D Grade & E Grade finals also as long as they are qualified 5.1.

    5.1 Players must take the court in at least 6 games to be eligible to participate in that division’s finals series. If the minimum number of games is not played, the player is ineligible to play finals.

    5.2 Junior players qualified in Division 2 of their age group automatically qualify to play in Division 1 finals of that age group.

    5.3 Once a player takes the court in the 9th game, they are ineligible to play in a lower grade/ division in the same age group.

    5.4 A player can only play in one senior game over one weekend of finals.

    5.5 Any junior is eligible to play in two finals (one junior one senior) over one weekend. Whereby a club does not field midweek teams in an age group, juniors from the age group below will be eligible to partake in two junior finals over one weekend (Not in the same age group).

    8.10 Players cannot play in both Saturday Division 2 & Friday night Finals over one weekend.

    16.5 In the GFNL ONLY any junior is eligible to play in two finals – one junior and one senior – over one weekend of finals as long as they are qualified as per rule 5.

CONDITIONS OF ENTRY FOR BELLARINE FNL & GEELONG FNL FINALS

  • Everyone must pay the admission fee to enter the venue.
  • Local council by–laws forbid taking alcohol into public reserves.
  • It is a condition of Entry that vehicles be inspected for illegal entry of alcohol.  
  • Failure to comply with this request will result in the vehicle not being permitted to enter the reserve.
  • Alcohol is not to be consumed before 12pm in line with liquor licensing requirements. 
  • No glass is permitted at the venue.
  • Any alcohol detected entering any venue will be confiscated and will not be returned to the patron.
  • Utilities or trucks with couches or lounge chairs on the back will not be permitted entry.
  • No Pets are allowed to enter the venue. Assistance or guide dogs are permitted.
  • Re-entry via pass-out stamp only.

About Mental Health Round

Mental Health Week is a joint initiative of Read the Play, Tackle Your Feelings, Leisure Networks, and AFL Barwon. It's about celebrating the work we are doing in the Geelong, Bellarine, and Surf Coast communities in mental health and wellbeing in sporting clubs. 

A Mental Health Week Luncheon will be held at Ocean Grove Football Netball Club, where we will hear from Daniel Gorringe and Erin Hoare. Please note that this event is invite only.

The Tackle Your Feelings Program

Champion positive change in mental health at your Football & Netball Club

Tackle Your Feelings is a free mental health training program for community football and netball coaches and players, as well as committee members, umpires and other club support staff.

Established in 2018 by the AFL Coaches Association, AFL Players’ Association and Zurich Insurance, the program is based on the education delivered to the AFL industry, and is led by high profile player and coach ambassadors.

Tackle Your Feelings workshops are delivered by a local psychologist. the program aims to help participants gain tools to Understand, Recognise and Respond to signs of mental ill-health in their players.
