The sports programme based at our Corio campus requires casual Netball Coaches for the upcoming winter season (to commence April 2025)

Previous coaching and/or playing experience is required. Training occurs at the School throughout the week with matches/competition on a Saturday morning. Applicants must possess a current Working with Children Card (Employment) and/or VIT Registration and be willing to obtain a National Police History Check. 

About the role:

The role is responsible for the following:

  • Planning and delivery of a coaching programme within the designated sport over the season, including the development of specific training and skill development sessions (pre and in season) to meet desired expectations and outcomes for the sport
  • Monitoring student attendance, performance, dress and effectively communicating and encouraging the expectations of student behaviour
  • Facilitating positive interactions with students and other internal and external coaches
  • Actively exercising a duty of care and monitoring the welfare of all students involved in netball
  • Attending all professional development and induction programmes and activities as required

About you:

To be successful in this role you will need:

Essential Skills:

  • Experience in coaching and the implementation of a coaching programme within netball
  • Previous experience in developing the sports skills and experiences of students
  • Excellent communication and motivational skills and a capacity to manage and coordinate sports teams
  • Knowledge and understanding of adolescent development and behaviour relevant to coaching sports teams

Desirable Skills:

  • A relevant coaching qualification and/or extensive netball experience
  • Competition experience within netball as an athlete

Geelong Grammar School - Head of Sport Netball

The Head of Netball is responsible for organising and administering the netball sports program at all levels on the Corio campus (from Year 5 to Year 12). The role is offered part-time on a 6-month fixed-term contract.  Note that this role will require you to work a mixture of days, afternoons and some Saturdays and Public Holidays. 

The position encompasses five broad areas (administration, management, professional development, planning and facilitating and communication) and effectively spans the entire year.  

It not only deals with the in-season but the off season where pre-season training is managed and planning for the upcoming season is completed.  

 

About the role 

Key responsibilities of this position include: 

Pre-season preparation 

  • Sourcing and allocating staff 
  • Booking transport, catering, venues and organisation of umpires 
  • Preparation of fixtures 

In-season 

  • Ensure all training sessions are appropriately staffed daily 
  • Supporting and managing Coaches and players 
  • Managing budgets  
  • Organising professional development sessions 
  • Team selection 
  • Managing staffing, students, and fixtures during the season  

End of the Season 

  • Co-ordinate and submit nominations for colours awards within Netball 
  • Organise and facilitate end of season functions and awards 
  • Facilitate completion of team photographs 
  • Complete all administrative tasks required to complete the season 
  • Attend end of season APS sport review meetings   
  • Formally review the season with the Director of Sport 

About you 

  • You will have previous experience coordinating sport and overseeing the development, implementation, and evaluation of a sports program 
  • Previous experience and involvement in the development of sports skills and teams in a coaching capacity within an educational setting 
  • Applicant must be available for an immediate start  

The successful candidate will be required to obtain a Victorian Working with Children Check (Employee) and a National Criminal History Check.
