AFL Barwon is saddened to hear of the passing of Geelong Football Netball League Life Member, Jack Grapsas.
Jack was rewarded for his service with Life Membership of the GFNL in 2003.
The AFL Barwon Chairman, Commission, Geelong FNL President & Board, AFL Barwon Staff and all member clubs extend their deepest sympathy to Jack's family.

JUNIOR COACH TRAINING SESSION
Practical hands-on session for those coaching/supporting NetSetGO, 9&U, 11&U, 13&U. This is a non-accredited session designed to build an understanding of teaching skills and techniques to junior players in a fun and engaging way.
Sessions will run for 1.5 hours and all participants will receive resources via email after attending the session.
Focuses on the mentor/mentee relationship and responsibilities, constructive feedback skills, the do’s and don’ts of mentoring, and expectations of beginner umpires.
Learn the basic characteristics of becoming an umpire, using your whistle and hand signals effectively, infringements and sanctions, and positioning on the court.
Topics include providing umpires with improved understanding of the protocols relating to Section 13 of the Rules of Netball and the instances when they should be applied and aims to increase an umpires' confidence to apply the Game Management section in matches, and gain a better understanding of the difference between Match Management techniques and Game Management requirements, and how these can work together.
The AFL Barwon Region will be hosting an Australian first, All-Abilities Football Netball League in 2023.
In an exciting addition to the Football and Netball competitions in Barwon region, the All-Abilities Football Netball League competitions adds further diversity and community opportunities to play both sports.
The All-Abilities football competition will commence its inaugural season with four Clubs - Bell Park FNC, Geelong West Giants FNC, Newcomb FNC & St Joseph’s FNC, fielding Football teams. The currently established All-Abilities Netball competition will be aligned to new league.
The 2023 All Abilities FNL season will commence the week of April 29th and run until August 12th. The football will take place fortnightly with each participating club hosting the competition. The current netball competition will also look to move to a club-based operation on a weekly basis.’
The season fixture will be released in February.

The 2023 version of the Game Plan, the club education seminar event is being held at GMHBA Stadium and Kardinia Park on Sunday 19th February.
The event is a great opportunity for club volunteers, officials, and coaches to collect the necessary for the upcoming season. It also provides a chance for attendees to interact with AFL Barwon staff and other club volunteers.

The Northern Stars have continued their expansion in the Northern Suburbs with Anakie Football Netball Club junior players aligning in 2023.
The concept that has previously included Corio FNC and North Shore FNC, has helped to combine, and grow football participation numbers in the North.
There will be an expansion into the female football space for the Northern Stars in 2023, with the club fielding an Under 16 girls’ team. This will provide girls in the Northern Suburbs an opportunity to play football and provide the community another sporting home.
The Northern Stars are hosting a registration day for all interested players on Sunday from 12pm to 5pm at Windsor Park.
