Modewarre vs Barwon Heads
Modewarre got backhanded by the Seagulls last weekend. The Warriors seem to have dropped off in form in the past few rounds. From the start of the game till the final siren, they were never in the contest.
Modewarre will not have to leave their home-field advantage this weekend, but they will want to make a statement against Geelong Amateurs who seem to be in the same boat as the Warriors. Barwon Heads have proven they are better than most and currently deserve their third spot. The Seagulls will return home this Saturday, where Anglesea awaits.

Newcomb vs Geelong Amateur
The Ammos may have got the win, but Power definitely gave them a fright. The drop off in the third term by Newcomb, allowed Geelong Amateur to go into the final term with a healthy lead. Power fought hard but couldn’t claim the four points.
Geelong Amateur are getting harder to predict with each passing round. This next match against Modewarre will show us where they’re at. As for Newcomb, a much better effort than what has been seen in previous performances. They will want to keep that form going into their next match against Ocean Grove.

Drysdale vs Portarlington
The Demons are still trapped at the bottom without any hope in sight. Not that anybody expected much considering they had to play against a team that hasn’t been defeated all season. At least they kept the deficit below 200 points this time.
Portarlington’s horror run will continue with Torquay as their next stop. As for the mighty Hawks, they don’t need to go anywhere this weekend, Queenscliff will come to them.

Barwon Heads vs Torquay
A fight back in the second term saw Barwon Heads take the lead, from there, the real test began. Torquay struck back with five unanswered majors in the third quarter. From there, the Tigers moved on to a convincing 30-point victory.
The Seagulls are still that step below the elite talent. They will get their chance again in their next match against Drysdale. But they will need to produce a four-quarter effort if they are to down the ladder leaders. Torquay will face Ocean Grove as the Tigers return to their den.

Another supreme victory by Drysdale. Mat Hebbard was outstanding last Saturday with an eight-goal performance. You can’t give the Hawks an inch, they must be matched in every term. Despite their undefeated streak, they have shown that they can be shaken.
The last time Drysdale met Barwon Heads in the first round, the Seagulls lost by very little. Perhaps this weekend may serve as a challenge for the mighty Hawks. As for Geelong Amateur, they will want a big win against Portarlington, they are just hanging onto their current fifth spot.

Queenscliff vs Modewarre
After the Barwon Heads loss, Modewarre has been on a role lately. Seven goals to Tom Hornsey, the man proved to be unstoppable. Connor Joseph was no slouch either with six majors for his tally.
The Coutas seem to be a little off in recent weeks, they desperately need the win against Newcomb at PlasterCom Oval but Power seem to be ready to fight. The Warriors will take on Anglesea, and you could imagine Modewarre will want to put the foot down early.

Drysdale vs Barwon Heads
It seems all that Barwon Heads managed to do in the first term was make Drysdale angry. After keeping the Hawks to one goal in the opening quarter, Drysdale would go on to kick nine majors in the second term. From there it was a typical Drysdale game.
Next Saturday, it’s the ‘big one’ before finals: Torquay vs Drysdale. The last time it was the Hawks with an emphatic victory over the Tigers, but another win could set up mental demons for the future. Definitely, one to watch. Barwon Heads returns to Howard Harmer Oval, Queenscliff will be their next match.

Newcomb vs Queenscliff
This resurgence from Power has been relieving for Newcomb fans. It was not an easy win over Queenscliff who were in reach of stealing the win, but Power hung on. A superb effort by Jack Duke with four majors, he proved to be the difference up forward.
Newcomb looks to Modewarre next. The Power will have the home-ground advantage but the Warriors have been consistent in their wins for weeks. If they somehow topple Modewarre, finals will be within their reach. Queenscliff will want a better start to next week against Barwon Heads. Unfortunately, for the Coutas, the Seagulls have just suffered a big loss and they will be seeking redemption.

It was a powerful performance by Torquay. Sheldon Ham had seven majors with Ben Raidme right behind him with six. They were no doubt sending a message to Drysdale.
This upcoming match means everything. If the Tigers win, they kill those mental demons before finals time. If they lose, Drysdale maintains that image of invincibility. Ocean Grove will turn their attention to Portarlington.

Very close or lucky, describes the Ammo win against Anglesea. A slow start by the Kangas proved to be their undoing. Just when you thought it would be a blowout, Anglesea came back to give Geelong Amateur a bit of a scare.
Ammo will have another tough task against Queenscliff. Although the Coutas were flat last week, this game is no guarantee. Anglesea is also in calculations for the ‘Top 5’. A big win over Portarlington and they’ll be even more in the hunt than ever.

The good patch of form by Newcomb came to an end at the hands of Modewarre. Power managed to keep pace in the first term, but that was ‘all she wrote’. The Warriors are just sharpening their steel now and getting ready for Finals.
Modewarre has Torquay this coming week. It’s the perfect opportunity to find out where the gap between the Warriors is and where Torquay are. For Newcomb, it’s all about pride when they face Barwon Heads. Only four rounds left, let’s see if Power can disappoint some clubs.

Nathan Jones ladies and gentlemen! The guest appearance had two goals to his name, but even with his added brilliance, the Grubbers proved to be too much for the Demons.
Ocean Grove has some heavy assignments coming up. Firstly, it’s Drysdale, followed by Modewarre, Barwon Heads, and then Geelong Amateur. Nobody expects them to win, but how they walk out this season matters. Portarlington has Anglesea.

Torquay vs Drysdale
This was the match all BFL fans wanted to see. The previous encounter saw the Hawks show up the Tigers, but not this time. The Tigers opened up with rage and played four solid football quarters, leading to a convincing win over Drysdale. The Hawks were keeping in touch with the Tigers until the final act.
Torquay look set to have the week off come Finals. But they still have Modewarre to contend with this Saturday. Drysdale has an easier opponent in Ocean Grove. A big win to the Hawks could help their percentage.

At Queens Park Reserve, Geelong was up in the first term. However, it was Modewarre who came storming home to win by 45 points.
For the Warriors, it was Jeremy Ollis and Matty McKim who led the charge through the midfield. The solid work rate of the pair had their forward line going frantic after a quiet first term. Tom Hornsey finished the day with three majors, complimenting him were Aaron Black, Connor Joseph, and Thomas Worpel with two goals each.
Spiro Alesios and Sam Darley had solid performances for Geelong, as did Jack Scarlett who was a rock in defence. Lachlan Devine provided a good target up forward but only finished with one major for the game.
Modewarre‘s next stop is Howard Harmer Oval where they will meet Barwon Heads. The Warriors are still undefeated, but the Seagulls should provide a challenge after crushing Anglesea with ease. As for Geelong, they will have to face another tough opponent at home when they meet Newcomb.

Drysdale vs Queenscliff
Without a doubt the match of the round. At halftime, the Coutas took the lead by five goals. But the Hawks managed to claw their way back into the contest and steal the win by one point.
It was Billy Beardsell who kicked the sealer from a tremendous snap with only seconds left, it was his second major of the day. Despite hamstring issues, Tom Ruggles powered through kicking a bag of five majors. Nicholas Egan battled hard through the midfield as did Ben Ryan.
For Queenscliff, Caleb Whitley was strong up forward. Whitley finished the match with three goals, with Sol Bowtell, Brod Dawson, and Jake Hedley finishing with two goals apiece. The defensive efforts from Queenscliff in the last term were outstanding. The Hawks just snuck through.
The Coutas will be very angry from this defeat. They will look to make a statement when they take on Ocean Grove this Saturday. Drysdale, on the other hand, continues their undefeated season and will meet Portarlington on Anzac Day.

Ocean Grove vs Newcomb
The last game of the round finished off Easter in spectacular form with a helicopter ride and another tight contest. Ocean Grove had their chances late in the fourth quarter but couldn’t convert. In the end, Newcomb was the winner by only three points.
Will Farrow and Bray Cullinan were engine room for Power’s midfield. They played the game out until the very end. Richie Hollins led well out from the forward line, but it was tall timber Andrew Steel with two goals including the sealer in the final term. Nathan McDonald was the pillar in defence for Newcomb.
Ocean Grove’s forwards fought hard and although they weren’t accurate in front of goal, the pressure brought by Josh Horton, Harley Pearce, and Tom Chalkley was immense. Their backline was also well served by Kye Annand and Mitch Taylor. Taylor seems to have more time than most players to make a decision with the ball.
Ocean Grove will have to work on their accuracy in front of goal when they take on Queenscliff. The Coutas will be no easy feat after losing to the Hawks by one point. Newcomb will have to travel to Geelong next Saturday and meet the Ammos on their home turf.
Goals
Ocean Grove: 2 J. McDonald, 2 D. Moroney, K. Annand, T. Chalkley, J. Paterson, H. Pearce, T. Ruck

Barwon Heads vs Portarlington
I don't believe I have ever seen a deficit this big in football. A 240 point smashing from Barwon Heads has kept the Demons in hell. Portarlington still remains at the bottom of the ladder with no wins or encouraging signs.
Barwon Heads will travel to Ocean Grove this weekend. Barwon will want to put Ocean Grove away early considering their persistent nature. Portarlington will return home and the Warriors will be waiting for them.
