    ANZAC Day

ANZAC Day falls on a Saturday in 2026 which impacts community sport.

    • Grading Period Concluding

As we approach the end of the grading period, we would like to provide an update on the fixturing process.

During grading, we are currently fixturing a week ahead – i.e. fixturing round 3 after round 1 had completed. As we need to finalise grades, the fixture for round 1 post grading, will not be completed until the week of round 1.

We understand this may mean short notice as to where your games will be played, however we do need to wait for the data from this final round of games to ensure teams are placed accurately.

Following the conclusion of the grading period, and the settling of grades, there will be two weeks grace whereby movement may occur. This will be up to the discretion of our grading group, who will review and make assessments should the need occur.

      For clarity:

      • Round 4 grading concludes Friday – round 1 post grading won’t be released until Tuesday.
      • Round 4 grading concludes Tuesday – round 1 post grading won’t be released until Thursday.

We will always endeavour to release the fixture sooner, however it is a time-consuming process, and it isn’t always possible. The remaining rounds of the fixture will be released as soon as reasonably possible.

    • League Bye

A reminder that there is a league bye on Friday 31 October and Tuesday 4 November with no games being played. We hope everyone has a safe and relaxing long weekend!

    • A message from Lara FNC

We look forward to hosting you for the summer season. Our courts are just a short walk from the train station in the Lara Sporting Club precinct.

On game days, our club rooms will be open from 4pm onwards. All away teams are welcome to use change room 2. The public toilets will be available for spectators.

We will have a canteen running with hot and cold snacks available.

If you require any assistance on game days, please look for somebody in a high vis as they will be the coordinators for the day. Alternatively, please ask at the canteen and somebody will point you in the right direction.

      Football

      • GFNL Week 2 Finals

        Author - Simon Riddoch

        Good Afternoon GFNL Football Contacts,

GFNL 2024 second weekend of GFNL Finals is this week.

Week One & Two & Three of the GFNL 2024 Qualifying, Semi and Elimination Finals will be held at Geelong West Oval (North Geelong) all game times are available on PlayHQ.

        • Bar – Lara FNC
        • Catering – St Joseph’s FNC

I draw your attention to club supporters entering the ground walking directly to umpires and verbally attacking and filming them with mobile phones, the first week of finals.

This behaviour is not on, umpires like everyone on game day should have a safe and great GFNL game day experience.

Umpires should feel safe in their working environment and feel safe to enter and leave the ground.

The GFNL community are better than this and I would like to see this behaviour stop, all club supporter interactions with umpires must cease.

This week AFL Barwon will be adopting greater protection measures for the umpires.

GFNL clubs are required to support and communicate with members and supporters to always stay away from umpires when entering and leaving the ground.

Any umpire feedback should follow the process of contacting This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

All clubs are required to submit their player payment reporting via the spreadsheet on our websiteHERE

        Commercial Partnerships

        • Geelong Cats Signed Jumpers

Each AFL Barwon affiliated club have received one allocated 2024 Geelong Cats signed football jumper, thanks to our community partnership.

Our region is very fortunate to have the Geelong Cats support in providing these for our clubs  to use for fundraising or gifting opportunities. This year we would like some feedback from clubs on the value they see and make from these jumpers. We are keen to understand whether clubs find value in these jumpers being provided, and how much financial gain each club makes from these. This will allow us to understand whether we continue to offer these to clubs in the future. 2025 and beyond.

Each clubs signed jumper will be able to be picked up from the AFL Barwon Office from 10am Monday September 16th.

If you have any questions or feedback, please contact AFL Barwon Commercial Partnerships and Communications Manager, Sean Atkinson (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.)

Salary Cap Reporting – DUE 4 WEEKS POST YOUR CLUBS FINAL A GRADE GAME

As the season draws to a close, please be reminded of your post season reporting requirements.

All clubs are required to submit their player payment reporting via the spreadsheet on our websiteHERE

            (scroll to “Netball Budget Template”)

All Players who have taken the court in A Grade are required to have either a standard player declaration, or non-declared player statement.

            Helpful tips:

            • Games played on the report should line up with PlayHQ records for compliance
            • If players who do not take the court, but receive payment for benching, please put this in the ‘other payments’ section of the template with a note such as ‘bench player payment’.
            • The spreadsheet auto-calculates for you, so please be mindful of it’s pre-exisitng formulas.

All relevant player payment policies can be found on this site should you need any further information. If you are unsure about anything, please email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

            FAQ’S

Why can’t these tickets be emailed to Club’s directly?

An INTIX Account must be created as we have been advised that there are significant issues in emailing more than 8 tickets.

Can Players or Officials enter the venue without an INTIX ticket?

All players and officials will need to provide their ticket to be scanned at the gate to enter.

If a ticket is not provided upon arrival, they will need to purchase a ticket at the gate to enter.

Tickets need to be for the appropriate day, otherwise will not grant access – please ensure you are distributing the correct tickets to the appropriate team.

How many tickets are we issued per team?

Ticket allocations for each team or group per day will be as follows:

            Reserves Football – 30

For this offer to be valid, the junior player and adult must proceed through the admission gate at the same time - There will be no substitutes or alternatives to this process.

Can Clubs purchase additional admission tickets prior to the event?

It is highly encouraged – All Bellarine Football Netball League and Geelong Football Netball League finals will have the option for patrons to pre purchase tickets. This could be a great way to fast-track entry into the venues.

As per last season, AFL Barwon will be proceeding with a ticketing for the Geelong Football Netball League Finals Series.

For the 2025 Finals Series, all participating Clubs will be issued with electronic tickets foreach day of the finals where they have teams participating.

Tickets will then need to be passed onto players and officials to be scanned at the entry gate for each day of the finals.

            What AFL Barwon will do?

AFL Barwon will issue tickets for eachindividual team or group participating in the Geelong Football Netball League finals on the email address that the club has created to use.

Tickets are only valid for the day on which that team is competing – so tickets MUST be distributed to the correct teams.

Tickets will be allocated to clubs on their nominated INTIX account, no later than 12pm on the Tuesday prior to matches.

What do clubs have to do?

Each club is required to setup an INTIX Account (https://www.INTIX.com.au/) for all tickets to be issued throughout the finals. A separate Football and Netball account is permitted.

The club is required submit the registered email address to this form:2025 REGISTERED EMAIL LINK. Tickets cannot be issued to the clubs until this account is setup.

Once tickets are issued, clubs will be able to access these on their INTIX account in two ways.

Download the INTIX App, log in and select tickets icon to view tickets, view barcode (swipe left if purchased more than one ticket to see all)

            OR

log into INTIX.com.au, select My Account, My Tickets, select the ticket.

If you are logging in on a phone, the ticket QR code will appear.

If you are logging in on computer, you will be able to print or download your ticket(s).

            Under 18 Football – 30

            Reserves Football – 30

            Senior Football – 35

            Junior Netball – 15

            Senior Netball – 15

Are there any discounts for Junior Netball Players?

All Junior Netball players will be allocated One (1) complimentary adult admission with all junior player’s (13&U, 15&U, & 17&U) allocated admission ticket.

For this offer to be valid, the junior player and adult must proceed through the admission gate at the same time - There will be no substitutes or alternatives to this process.

Can Clubs purchase additional admission tickets prior to the event?

It is highly encouraged – All Geelong Football Netball League finals will have the option for patrons to pre purchase tickets. This could be a great way to fast-track entry into the venues.

All AFL Barwon finals events can be found athttps://www.INTIX.com.au/org/afl-barwon

Can Clubs purchase additional admission tickets prior to the event?

It is highly encouraged – All Bellarine Football Netball League and Geelong Football Netball League finals will have the option for patrons to pre purchase tickets. This could be a great way to fast-track entry into the venues.

          • Bench Officials – TEMPLATE AVAILABLE TO DOWNLOAD

A spreadsheet will be sent to all clubs to complete, nominating who their team bench officials will be for the finals series. We understand many teams will have a stable bench, so needing to provide this each week is not always necessary.

However, if there is a change to your submitted list – then no worries, please pop to the competition office, or email the AFL Barwon team through the week, and we can update this for you. Only those named on our lists will be permitted to sit on the bench.

            Starting Positions

While team selections will still be required by Wednesday of each week to enable us to type up position tracking sheets with qualified players, starting positions/line ups will be required to be selected in PlayHQ by 6pm the day before match day.

Again – if there are changes to this post this time, this can be communicated at the competition office.

All teams will still be required to ‘check in’ at the competition office, to run their names over their lists, and ensure all players are listed. From there, umpires will bring the paperwork to the score bench, for the independent scorer and check scorers.

          • Keep an eye out for the Scorers Roster

This will be distributed on Monday and will include your allocated independent scoring duties. We try to allocate these within a game or two of your club’s fixtures – but sometimes this isn’t possible due to the composition.

(Please remember that independent duties are separate to check scorer duties – you will require a check scorer for each participating team!)

          • ACTION REQUIRED – Player Payment Reporting Information

As the season draws to a close, it is now time for clubs to begin compiling their ACTUAL Player Payment Spend for the 2025 season. This reporting is due four weeks after your clubs final A Grade game.

As was required at the start of season for your budgets, clubs must complete the ACTUALS SPREADSHEET (linked) reflecting all payments made to A Grade players. This is part of your compliance requirements under the Allowable Player Payments Policies.
