Club Development
Nominations for the Good Sports Awards 2024 are now open to all community sporting clubs who are part of the Good Sports program.
The Awards shine the spotlight on success, celebrate the volunteers who are the backbone of Good Sports clubs and provide clubs with the recognition they deserve for reducing harms from alcohol and drugs in their communities, and creating even healthier sporting environments.
There are cash prizes of up to $2000 for winning clubs!
Wanting to make changes to City-owned community assets? Submit a proposal for works to enhance or upgrade one of our facilities.
Proposed works include anything that might potentially be fixed to an asset or ground, for example: sports lights, facility or pavilion, sporting infrastructure, turf management etc.
The proposal for works must be approved before the commencement of any project.
Thanks to the many clubs under the COGG Local Government Authority (LGA) that took the opportunity to have your say around future facilities & recreational needs.
It is not to late to have your say with the census closing at 5pm 30th November.
Why should you contribute?
The City of Greater Geelong’s growing population and continued passion for sport means that it’s time to evaluate the use of our facilities and levels of participation in sport, to plan for our future recreational needs.
By completing the Sport and Recreation Census you’ll provide us with a clearer understanding of your club and its members. The results will inform us to better support your organisation and sport into the future.
Along with helping us understand sport and recreation trends, completing the census will assist in recognizing constraints on pavilions and reserves, understanding where gaps and opportunities exist, and identifying who, when and how people are using our facilities and reserves.
We thank you in anticipation of your support of growing Geelong’s reputation as an active, healthy, and engaged community by completing the survey. Please see our 2024 Sport and Recreation Census attached.
Eligible kids can receive up to $200 to cover the costs of memberships and registration fees for programs like local club footy, Auskick and Superkick.
Local club fundraising opportunity through new Container Deposit Scheme partnership
Local football clubs across the state will be supported to raise funds and become more sustainable through a new partnership between AFL Victoria and Victoria's Container Deposit Scheme (CDS Vic). CDS Vic provides the opportunity for Victorians to return eligible drink containers for a 10-cent refund.
