HITIQ Club Training Visits

AFL Barwon is partnering with HITIQ to run on‑ground PROTEQT activations at club training sessions and pre‑season games across February–March. These visits support concussion education for parents and coaches and make it simple for families to adopt HITIQ PROTEQT ahead of Round 1.

About HITIQ PROTEQT
PROTEQT is an instrumented mouthguard (iMG) containing a micro‑sensor that measures head impacts and syncs to the HITIQ app to help Detect, Assess and Manage potential concussion events. This elite‑level technology—previously only available to professional athletes—is now being offered to grassroots players for the first time.

PROTEQT will be available at Rebel from February, and through the AFL Barwon partnership families will be able to access it for $199 (normally $399 retail).

Why this matters
Concussion is a complex brain injury caused by traumatic forces that trigger a neurometabolic cascade, disrupt blood flow and communication pathways, and create an “invisible” functional disturbance in the brain. Even a single concussion can increase the risk of additional concussions and other injuries due to impaired balance, slowed reaction times and reduced decision‑making. The PROTEQT system helps families and coaches make safer, more informed decisions.

As part of the campaign, AFL Premiership player Nathan Murphy will feature in league‑wide content promoting safer play and concussion awareness.

What a HITIQ activation involves

  • On‑site presence at a training session or pre‑season game (30–60 mins)
  • Education for parents/coaches on safer play and concussion management
  • Product demo and support for families
  • Minimal club resourcing — HITIQ provides all staff and materials

What we need from your club
Please reply with the details below so HITIQ can lock in your visit(s):

  • Primary contact (name, mobile, email)
  • Training nights by age group (U12–U18) incl. start/end times
  • Pre‑season fixtures (if available)
  • Preferred activation windows
  • Access/venue requirements

Transfers Information

Due to the change in set up, transfers will now ONLY trigger between Winter seasons, reducing some of the confusion we have previously seen. Players are able to play at different clubs across Summer without the need for transfer, but are a requirement and enforceable by-law between Winter seasons.

With registrations opening, please ensure you have email notifications on to monitor out-going clearances. Only one transfer is permitted per player, per season, as per AFL Barwon by-laws.

Turning on Transfer Notifications

To ensure you can stay on top of transfers (as they will auto approve after 7 days), please ensure someone within your club is signed up to transfer notifications.

To assign an email address to transfer notifications:

  • Click on ‘organisation’ on the menu on the left
  • From the top menu, select ‘notifications’

Enter the email address you wish to use, and ensure you toggle ‘transfers’ on.
