Community Awards Night Winners

AFL Barwon has celebrated and recognised the Football and Netball leaders for the 2024 season at the Community Awards event held at the Geelong Library & Heritage Centre.

Ian McTaggart honoured with Club of the Year Award Naming

The AFL Barwon Commission is proud to announce the that the prestigious AFL Barwon Club of the Year award has been named in honour of Ian McTaggart, in recognition of his unparalleled service to the football and netball community. McTaggart, who resigned from the AFL Barwon Commission in 2022, was a founding member of the Commission when it was formed in 2012, capping off more than two decades of dedicated leadership within the region.

Joy Grubb acknowledged with coaching honour

AFL Barwon is proud to announce that the Senior Netball Coach of the Year award has been named in honour of Joy Grubb, a true icon of netball whose dedication and commitment to the game have inspired generations of participants. Grubb's remarkable career, spanning several decades, has left an indelible mark on the netball community through her leadership, mentorship, and exemplary sportsmanship.

2025 Junior Netball Representative Program

Trial Registrations

Trial registrations for the 2025 Junior Netball Representative Program close on the 6th November.

As part of the Representative Program, teams will train and compete in a weekly competition as well as compete at Association Championships. More information on the program can be found on our website

We will be hosting three trial dates on Sunday 10th, 17th and 24th November 2024. Times for each age group are as follows.

  • 13&U: 8:30-10:15am
  • 15&U: 10:15-12:00pm
  • 17&U: 12:00-1:30pm

Local club fundraising opportunity through new Container Deposit Scheme partnership

Local football clubs across the state will be supported to raise funds and become more sustainable through a new partnership between AFL Victoria and Victoria's Container Deposit Scheme (CDS Vic). CDS Vic provides the opportunity for Victorians to return eligible drink containers for a 10-cent refund.

The Get Active Victoria kids voucher program is back

Eligible kids can receive up to $200 to cover the costs of memberships and registration fees for programs like local club footy, Auskick and Superkick

2024 Goal Post Kick-start Subsidy Program

Victorian football clubs and/or affiliations, including schools and councils, as approved by AFL Victoria, can apply for a $1000 subsidy to upgrade goal posts, thanks to PILA.
