2024 U9 Girls Competition
Will Ross - Junior Football

We are excited to announce the 2024 U9 girls’ competition will be run in collaboration with AFL Victoria this year!

AFL Victoria are strong supporters of the transition from Auskick to Community Football within our region, and this 2024 offering will align equitably for both boys and girls transitioning. There are offerings for both Mixed & Girls but are run separately, so for the girls, it will remain a girls-only competition.

2024 AFL Barwon - Unders Program:

  • Participants: This remains a girls-only competition, providing a supportive environment for girls wanting to give footy a go.
  • Competition Details: It is a FREE 6-week competition where girls can represent their Junior Football Club.
  • Start Date: The season kicks off on 9th August, with games starting from 4:15pm.
  • Club Jumpers: All participants will be provided with club jumpers by their respective junior clubs.
  • Format: The competition will feature small-sided mini-games played against other clubs, fostering skill development and teamwork.

For any queries regarding the program, please reach out to Will Ross.

This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Will is our dedicated point of contact for both Unders offerings and as such, will be the main contact for this Girls-only opportunity.

Fixtures and timings will be finalised and communicated closer to the start of the competition.

We encourage all interested girls to participate, and we look forward to another successful season!

Role of the Wellbeing Coordinator (Click here for more info)
Tackle Your Feelings

This webinar aims to bring together volunteers at community level who want to learn more about the role of a wellbeing coordinator.

Guests will hear from a panel of experts who will share tips on how to influence the club environment, plus provide an insight into best practice at the elite level. The webinar will also be relevant for clubs that do not have a wellbeing resource, but would like to understand how to set this role up for success.

Female Cardiac Arrest Survival (Click here for more info)
ERDI FOUNDATION - COMMUNITY FIRST RESPONDERS AUSTRALIA

Females are 30% less likely to survive cardiac arrest than their male counterparts.

Thanks to Community First Responders Australia, we are offering an opportunity for First Aid Training (HLTAID011) for AFL Barwon Clubs with a focus on the sub-optimal survival rates of women experiencing cardiac arrest in our community.

If you are interested in taking up this opportunity, please register your interest by emailing Sean Atkinson (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) with limited spots available for the first intake.

State/National Volunteer of the Year Nominations

As you are well and truly aware Club Volunteers are the glue that keeps our Clubs together. Without them our clubs just would not function. You know that you’re one of them!

Thank you to the 25 Clubs that took the opportunity to reward & recognise their volunteers by nominating & registering for this fantastic initiative. This serves as a wonderful recognition for all the unpaid hard work that they do for your Club. I am hopeful that some of these nominations are short listed and potentially win their category, as the additional reward is that they are in the running for some fantastic prizes courtesy of the AFL.
