To assist clubs with much needed support for their volunteers, there is a need to employ VSOs within AFL Barwon and a few other areas. It is felt that a further three people could comfortably be engaged in Barwon alone. Some earlier applicants fell through due to restrictions around additional income once people are retired.

One thing which is becoming more evident is that this is very much a sub-contractor style of role and that it is working best for those who can actively reach out to clubs on a continual basis.
